Discount Nikon D60 10.2 Megapixel

Costly point-and-shoot digital cameras were the norm until an innovative entry-level DSLR - the Nikon D60 10.2 - was introduced. Canon had taken the initiative in this category, but eventually Nikon took centre stage in this game of offering tech-heavy digicams at an affordable price. The D60 was thought to be an upgraded version of the D40x but it has now graduated as a distinctive model in its own right.

It feels and behaves as a sturdy and dependable performer and the hand grip has been designed to provide the user a secure and balanced grip. The appearance isn't cluttered like the rest of its competitors. It is very convenient to gain access to the numerous specific adjustments that have been provided.

The body and the buttons appear neatly packed-in and the build quality boasts a metal alloy frame. It features Nikon's new active D-Lighting that allows its users to use software in order to broaden the dynamic range and define the detail, both in the shadow and highlighted regions of contrasting subjects. This is useful in solving most exposure-related issues. Another welcome addition to the Nikon D60 is the automatically-tuned LCD rotation. This enables you to tilt the shooting direction of the camera without worrying about getting the LCD display right. It also has an Eye Sensor that gets activated, automatically every time you use the viewfinder.

The D60 makes flash photography simple and accurate, courtesy of the flash Edge i-TTL technology, which does away with too many options and instantly, provides balanced flash-based illumination even under tough lighting conditions. It offers an exclusive in-camera option - the Retouch Menu. After having clicked the subject, you can use this Menu to create duplicate images, complete with enhanced snapshot effects, without needing a computer! For its size, the 10.2 Megapixel of resolution is more than adequate. Another savvy addition is the Cross Screen that can be used to create starburst-like appearance in the images.

Nikon had faced issues with getting the image stabilisation right in this category and the D60 has a re-arranged AF-S DX NIKKOR kit that provides amazing optical stabilization and this is perhaps one of its most defining features. As a result, the quality of the default images too, is surprisingly impressive. The resolution is very precise and easily differentiates shape transition and it also boosts the colour transmission and contrast balance.

Verdict: Nikon's D60 10.2 Megapixel makes a logical purchase for budget-constrained folks graduating from ordinary digicams to DSLRs with articulated features. This isn't suited for the professionally-inclined clickers but the demanding enthusiasts and casual photographers should seriously consider it, as a great value with specifications purchase.
